Sport at St Eugene College is a vibrant and valued part of student life, offering every young person the opportunity to get involved, stay active, and experience the enjoyment of being part of a team.
Our Middle (Years 7–9) and Senior (Years 10–12) students proudly compete in the South East Colleges Association (SECA) competitions, participating in major carnivals such as Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics. In addition, our interschool midweek sport program provides students with regular opportunities to represent the College and build connections through healthy competition.
Midweek Sport runs in Term 2 (Season 1) and Term 3 (Season 2), with games played during school hours on Tuesdays. This compulsory program ensures that all students are actively involved and benefit from a broad and inclusive sporting experience, with a wide range of options to suit different interests and abilities.
Students can choose from a diverse selection of sports, including:
· Volleyball
· 5-a-side Soccer
· Rugby League
· Netball
· Touch Football
· Oz-Tag
· Basketball
· Chess
· Theatre Sports
· AFL and Futsal (Gala Day opportunities)
At St Eugene, participation, enjoyment, teamwork and personal growth sit at the heart of our program. We encourage all students, regardless of experience or ability, to step outside their comfort zone, develop new skills, and build confidence through sport.
For students looking to extend themselves further, there are additional opportunities to compete at a higher level through events such as CBSQ (Champion Basketball Schools of Queensland), the Vicki Wilson Cup (Netball), Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball (QISSN), All Schools Oz-Tag and NRL Gala Days.
Our Spirits Sports Academy also provides targeted development pathways in Netball, Basketball and Rugby League, supporting students who are passionate about improving their performance.
We are equally committed to supporting talented athletes in pursuing representative pathways, with opportunities available at district, regional, state and national levels.
At St Eugene College, sport is more than just competition, it’s about belonging, striving for personal bests, and celebrating success.
