At St Eugene College, our House system nurtures a strong sense of belonging, identity and community from Prep to Year 12. Students belong to one of four Houses, with a vertical Pastoral Care structure in Years 7–12 that strengthens relationships, mentorship and shared responsibility.
Each House reflects one of the College’s core values, while together they form a united community grounded in the Oblate charism. Through House gatherings, liturgies, service initiatives, sporting events and leadership opportunities, students experience these values in action and develop pride in their House and the wider College.
While each House champions a particular value, community unites them all, reminding us that we grow, flourish and serve best when we journey together.
Each House is guided by a dedicated House Leader, who works closely with students and staff to nurture belonging, wellbeing and leadership within the House.
Carroll House – Be a Beacon of Light
Inspired by Fr Jim Carroll O.M.I., Carroll House lives the College value of Hope, guided by the call to Guide with Hope, Lead with Joy: Be a Beacon of Light. Known for his joy, kindness and care for others, Fr Jim reminds us that hope is shown through everyday actions.
Symbolised by the kookaburra, a bird of joy, new beginnings and strong family bonds, Carroll House seeks to be a welcoming community where optimism, encouragement and compassion help everyone to feel valued and supported, grounded in our shared value of Community.
God our Father,
Inspired by the example of Fr Jim Carroll,
may we dare to be people of hope,
approaching life with a positive and enthusiastic spirit.
May we always show community in action,
knowing “I am because we are.”
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Inspired by the example of Fr John Dunlea,
may we dare to be people of dignity,
showing deep respect for ourselves and for others,
knowing we are all made in the image and likeness of God.
May we always show community in action,
knowing “I am because we are.”
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.
