Value Statement

Imbued by our Oblate charism, St Eugene College values individual expression and the dignity of the individual. However, as a community we aspire to the common good and equity for all our members. We need to wear our uniform proudly and observe the uniform standards expressed in our policy as a lived expression of these espoused values.

St Eugene College has clear expectations regarding the wearing of the correct school uniform. Wearing our College uniform is like a badge of honor. It also creates an identity for a school and allows us to have that sense of belonging. Uniforms show that you are part of an organisation and wearing your uniform with pride shows that we’re all in this together. It shows respect toward our College and all we stand for. A school uniform teaches students to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance. Many often say “look good, feel good” and there has been some research done that supports the notion that a school uniform can improve learning by reducing distraction, sharpening focus on schoolwork and making the classroom a more serious environment, allowing students to perform better academically. It takes away the peer pressure of worrying what to wear and there is no competition.
