South East Colleges Association (North)

I am pleased to announce that after two years of planning and preparation, the South East Colleges Association (SECA) is expanding to the Catholic Colleges on the northside of Brisbane. A coalition of five Colleges – St Eugene College, Southern Cross Catholic College; St Benedict’s; Mt Maria, Petrie; and Mt Maria, Mitchelton – will join the SECA Sports Competition from the start of 2019. SECA has been providing quality competitions in sport and other activities for over 15 years for the purpose of developing healthy young people of character. Within a Christian context, SECA promotes partic-ipation and pride while nurturing spiritual, moral, emotional, intellectual, social and physical devel-opment. Students will have the opportunity to represent St Eugene College at Swimming, Cross Country and Track and Field Carnivals; across two seasons of team sports and activities; and at Gala Days for a range of sports.

Of course, we will continue to build our performances at events such as All Schools Touch Championships, CBSQ (Champion Basketball School of Queensland). Our membership of SECA will replace the local weekly district inter-school sport competition for Middle and Senior Years students from 2019. Be assured, however, that the pathway for elite competitors to pursue district, regional, State and National level representation if they wish to do so, will continue as it does now.

This is a significant moment in the history of our College and one that I know will provide our young people quality opportunities to represent their school with pride. Go Spirits!
