Literacy & Numeracy

Literacy & Numeracy

At St Eugene our plan is underpinned with our school Mission Statement. Elements of particular relevance in developing and implementing our school literacy and numeracy plan are that:

  • We value and support the development of positive, collaborative relationships among all members of the school community.

  • We nurture an environment where the uniqueness and dignity of each person – spiritual, social, academic, physical   and cultural-is appreciated and respected.

We, therefore, support a caring learning community which attempts to meet the needs of all students. Such a community values underlying principles that include:

  • Literacy & Numeracy

A belief that effective Learning and Teaching practices support all learners including learners experiencing difficulties

  • There is no one approach, program or set of resources that will meet the needs of all students.

  • A belief that all students can learn and be successful.

  • A team approach in supporting students that involves administration, classroom teachers, specialists, school support personnel -LST, CST, STPC-, parents and students.

  • A commitment to professional development that is ongoing and outcomes based within the context of a community of Life Long Learners.
